Description of Malaga

Malaga is the main town of Andalucia on the coast and second city to Seville in the south with a population of about half a million. it's airport located between Malaga & Torremolinos is regarded as the gateway to the Costa del Sol.

Malaga is also an important port city with plenty of commercial activity. it is less of a resort than it's neighbour Torremolinos

2 of Malaga's famous sons are Antonio Banderas, the film actor and the great spanish artist Pablo Picasso.

There are train/tram connections to the airport with a 30 minute service and because the airport is close to the city only takes about 12 minutes.

Some of the beaches are around the old fishing villages of El Palo & Pedregalejo now merged into the suburbs of eastern Malaga

  • Las Acacias is a pretty wide U shaped medium size beach

Banos del Carmen Beach

  • Banos del Carmen Beach is a small beach and is not as well kept as the others, can be dirty and wall have graffiti
  • The wooded park is rather nice
  • Fishing from the rocks

La Malagueta beach

  • La Malagueta beach has beautiful sand imported from the Sahara desert. maintained by breakwaters
  • The beach is located in front of the outer section of the port on the north east side

  • Malaga's nightlife is centred to the north east of the cathedral around Plaza de Uncibay, Calle Beatas, Calle Granada & Calle Almos
  • Another centre is south of the Bullring (Plaza de Toros) in La Malagueta
  • There is also a nightlife scenecentred on the seafront strip to Pedregalejo in the suburbs especially along Juan Sebastian Eleano

There are 3 rail lines from Malaga railway station

2 lines C1! & C2 run up and down the Costa del Sol Coast

The third line runs inland to connect to the large inland Cities
